The Märkische Spezialitätenbrennerei was only opened in 2010 and is thus one of the youngest distilleries in Germany. It is very picturesque in a former, lovingly restored smithy in a suburb of Hagen on the northern edge of the Sauerland. Already on the opening day, the first whiskey was distilled. Maturing is usually in the depths of the Dechenhöhle at a uniform temperature and high humidity. Distillers description: Color: light gold, winter sun Nose: grainy, fruity like apple peel, very slightly floral, the wood aromas are not obvious, only contribute to the complexity in taste: the apple peel and cereal flavors are clearly in the foreground, warm spicy notes, a little vanilla, slight citrus notes, herbal as dried mint finish: it is especially the spicy flavors that remain on the palate, very late develops even a subtle leather note The whiskeys of Märkische Spezialitätenbrennerei are basically single barrel bottlings and are similar in their malty, the soft fruit - and the warm spicy notes. The good and complex mouthfeel is additionally supported by a slightly higher alcohol content.
